How it works

Available across web, iOS and Android - Frood allows university students, faculty & staff to post food leftover from on-campus events or meetings. The campus community is subsequently notified to the availability of free food near them on-campus.

What we offer

  • Detailed posts

Campus members can post photos, briefly describe their food, and add allergen and restriction information when they post.

  • Availability Notifications

Users are able to mark they are on their way to an event and update in real-time the amount of servings of food left at the event for other event-goers.

  • Built in security

University officials can limit access to their university, configure how long food can be posted for, see audit logs of posted events and users and take action such as blocking, and institute posting delays.

Our impact

Frood has been running at Lehigh University since 2021.

  • 890+ Food items posted
  • 3200+ Food attendees
  • 3000+ Food lbs saved
  • 3600+ users
  • 42% students face food insecurity

Food insecurity and waste is an increasingly pressing issues across college campuses in the United States and one we believe is yet to be adequately solved. Our platform suits the unique needs of posting food events - providing serving updates as food runs out, campus notifications, indicating how many people are on their way - while providing risk management safeguards that inherently comes with food.

Help us address a need.

We want to help end the wasteful cycle at universities and make a meaningful dent on food waste and insecurity. Interested in what we're doing?
